THE ROLE:

We are looking for a dynamic, energetic Systems Test Validation Engineer to join our growing team. To work on the development of methodologies, the execution of system integration plans, and debugging of failures. As a key contributor you will collaborate with Architecture, Design, and Pre-silicon integration teams to improve post-silicon test content and provide feedback for future debug and test features. You will use and apply emulation and platform level tools and techniques to ensure zero quality escapes.

THE PERSON:

As a Systems Test Validation Engineer, you will deliver our next generation of system tests for our products. In this high visibility position, your systems engineering expertise will be necessary to find and resolve silicon platform issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute feature enablement and validation test plans for SoC- and system-level SoC features across all AMD Server products.
  • Perform Post-Si validation of Server RAS (Reliability, Availability, Serviceability) features.
  • Perform system-level experiments, debug and root cause analysis.
  • Lead complex debug efforts for internal/customer findings to identify root cause and resolution.
  • Develop post-silicon validation scripts and infrastructure (software, hardware, automation environment, and lab setup).
  • Test interactions between various SoC features using validation infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with AMD-wide teams to improve post-silicon validation test strategy, methodology, and process.
  • Be able to work in a high demand, fast paced environment with lots of real-time problem solving and critical thinking.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Understanding of modern x86 microprocessor architecture and Server platform architecture is highly desired.
  • Good understanding of PC platform hardware, Operating System, Device Drivers and System BIOS interactions.
  • Experience developing validation methodologies and infrastructure.
  • Able to execute and drive success of programs with multiple projects on the go.
  • Debug skills at both SoC and IP level.
  • Knowledge of any of the following industry standard interfaces: DDR, PCIe, CXL.
  • Working knowledge of lab equipment such as protocol analyzers, logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
  • Familiarity with programming / scripting language (Python).
  • Working knowledge of Server OSes (Ubuntu, Windows Server).
  • Must be a self-starting team player with excellent communication skills who can work with minimal guidance.
  • Forward thinker that drives improvement to development process, code architecture and fosters a spirit of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Highly organized, able to prioritize, and juggle multiple work streams to tight deadlines.
  • Proven willingness to lead technical projects, working with multi-functional and cross-site groups.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent
