Hospitalist/Nocturnist in Orange County, CA

Optum is seeking a dedicated Hospitalist/Nocturnist to join our team in Orange County, to provide high-quality, patient-centered inpatient care.

Position Highlights:

• 7-on / 7-off block model
• 7 day shifts + 2 night shifts per cycle (206 total shifts per year)
• Perform hospital rounds for patients referred to the service
• Overnight admitting; onsite presence required

Responsibilities

• Deliver care aligned with hospital medical staff bylaws and referring physician expectations
• Communicate effectively with families, referring to providers, specialists, administration, and hospital departments
• Work collaboratively with hospital staff, social services, utilization management, and interdisciplinary teams
• Participate in care planning, progress discussions, and evaluation of patient outcomes
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of all required documentation, including medical records and billing/coding

Required Qualifications:

• Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic (D.O.)
• Completion of an accredited residency Internal Medicine
• Board Certification in Internal Medicine, or Board Eligible for medical residents
• Active and unrestricted California Medical License or ability to obtain prior to start
• Current California DEA certificate or ability to obtain prior to start
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain prior to start
• EMR Proficient
