Job Overview

The PBX Operator is an essential member of the Patient Family Experience Team. As the first point of contact for in-facility emergencies and the general public seeking information, this role will take emergent and non-emergent calls from multiple locations. The PBX Operator balances excellent customer service with the ability to handle emergencies quickly and decisively.

Shift: Thursday to Saturday, 7:30pm to 6am and Monday 6am to 12:30pm. Hybrid

Duties & Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

1. Works in high stressful situations, maintains composure while exercising good judgment, and makes sound and timely decisions in emergency and non-emergency situations.
2. Obtains complete, accurate and appropriate information from calling party.
3. Monitors multiple streams of information simultaneously and prioritizes response actions.
4. Dispatches pages for emergency purposes, impacting various departments.
5. Enters emergency assistance call information into the computer dispatch system providing location of call; inputs, modifies, confirms, and validates information in accordance with established protocols.
6. Uses telephone system and related equipment, alarm monitoring system, and/or computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system properly when receiving and dispatching calls for service.
7. Provides detailed call information to first responders, as needed.
8. Provides prompt and courteous service to all callers. Communicates with patients and families from various socioeconomic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
9. Monitors and processes electronic work queues. Determines the appropriate work queue for electronic documents.
10. Effectively listens to, communicates, and elicits information from upset and emotional individuals.
11. Exercises a high degree of control over confidential information.
12. Coordinates with other departments. Exchanges require explanation and interpretation of matters possibly sensitive in nature.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degrees
    • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Experience
    • Call Center experience preferred.

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Hourly Range: $15.78 to $23.67
