Job Description




As a Security Officer - Unarmed Campus Rover in Chicago, IL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at an education location, you will conduct routine foot patrols, stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and respond to calls for assistance with professionalism. You will support students, faculty, staff, and visitors through strong communication, access awareness, and timely reporting of concerns. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of academic buildings, residence areas, common spaces, parking areas, and the perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity.
  • Monitor and control access points as assigned, verifying identification and/or authorization while directing guests to appropriate destinations.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including calls for assistance, disorderly conduct, medical incidents, and fire or alarm activations.
  • Observe, report, and document unusual activity, hazards, and policy violations, and notify appropriate campus partners and/or supervisors as required.
  • Complete detailed activity reports, incident reports, and shift logs using approved reporting tools and procedures.
  • Provide escort assistance and/or walking guidance when requested, in accordance with site-specific policies.
  • Support emergency procedures such as evacuations, shelter-in-place actions, and area control as directed by site leadership and/or public responders.
  • Operate assigned communication equipment, including radios and phones, to coordinate responses and relay accurate information.
  • Maintain a professional presence and appearance while interacting respectfully with a diverse campus community.

Minimum Requirements:

  • - Client requires proof of high school diploma or GED.
  • - Be at least 21 years of age.
  • - Customer service experience is preferred.
  • - Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • - Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • - As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • - Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • - As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • - Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • - A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
