Description

The Demand Management Analyst is responsible for delivering accurate, insight-driven demand plans and inventory strategies that support capital optimization, corporate strategy, and production/sales objectives. This role blends algorithmic planning with business acumen-leveraging statistical and forecasting models, scenario modeling, and cross-functional inputs-to drive service levels, profitability, and operational efficiency. The analyst acts as a key integrator across Sales, Marketing, Business Units, Supply Chain, Quality, Logistics, Finance, Operations, and Customer Service, aligning demand, supply, and revenue plans while enabling effective decision-making.

Responsibilities

Forecasting & Algorithmic Planning

• Build and maintain demand forecasts using statistical methods (e.g., exponential smoothing, ARIMA, regression) and machine-learning-based forecasting algorithms as appropriate.
• Segment demand (e.g., ABC/XYZ, lifecycle stages) and apply fit-for-purpose algorithms to improve forecast accuracy and reduce bias.
• Integrate external signals (market trends, seasonality, macro factors) with internal data (historical orders, bookings, backlog) to enhance plan fidelity.

Integrated Business Planning & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with Sales and Marketing to incorporate pipeline, and new product introductions (NPIs).
• Align with Business Units on revenue targets, product strategies, and portfolio changes.
• Coordinate with Supply Chain, Quality, and Logistics to understand capacity, lead times, quality constraints, and distribution.
• Work closely with Operations, and Sales to reconcile demand plans.

Inventory & Supply Planning

• Plan and manage inventory levels to meet service-level targets while optimizing working capital.
• Drive decisions on allocation and prioritization to protect critical customers, channels, and revenue.

Scenario Modeling & Decision Support

• Run "what-if" analyses to evaluate demand/supply fluctuations, capacity changes, and risk scenarios (e.g., supplier disruptions, logistics constraints).
• Quantify tradeoffs (revenue, margin, service levels, expedite costs) and recommend actions with clear assumptions and sensitivities.

Analytics, Insights & Continuous Improvement

• Analyze demand, supply, and shipment trends to identify opportunities, risks, and root causes of variance.
• Develop reports that communicate plan changes, accuracy metrics, bias, and performance.
• Lead improvement initiatives to enhance forecast accuracy, shorten planning cycles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Math, Business, Economics, Engineering, Data Analytics, or related field.
• 5 years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, inventory management, or supply chain analytics.
• Proficiency with Excel (advanced), ERP/APS planning tools (e.g., SAP APO/IBP, Oracle Demantra, Kinaxis), and data visualization (Power BI/Tableau).
• Working knowledge of statistical forecasting and algorithmic planning; ability to select and apply appropriate models.
• Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions.

• Advanced Excel & Data Analysis: Pivot tables, macros, complex formulas; ability to automate recurring analyses.
• ERP & Planning Systems: Hands-on experience with SAP APO/IBP, Oracle Demantra, Kinaxis RapidResponse, or similar planning tools.
• Data Visualization: Present insights using Power BI or Tableau with clear narratives and business-ready visuals.
• Statistical & Forecasting Techniques: Preferred familiarity with regression, time-series analysis, and forecasting algorithms; experience applying model selection/validation.

3) Communication & Collaboration

• Cross-Functional Coordination: Partner with Sales, Finance, Operations, Marketing, BUs, Supply Chain, Quality, Logistics, and Customer Service.
• Customer Service Orientation: Rapidly resolve allocation and service issues.
• Negotiation Skills: Balance revenue goals against supply constraints; align stakeholders on tradeoffs and decisions.

4) Problem-Solving & Decision-Making

• Root Cause Analysis: Identify and resolve demand-supply mismatches using structured problem-solving.
• Prioritization: Allocate limited inventory to maximize revenue and customer satisfaction.
• Risk Management: Anticipate disruptions; develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Python/R and SQL for advanced analytics and model prototyping.
• Certifications: APICS CPIM/CSCP, IBF CPF/ACF, or Six Sigma.
• Industry experience in Semiconductors, consumer goods, medical devices, electronics, industrial.
• Exposure to S&OP/IBP processes and governance.
