CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Gas Engineer IV to join our Gas Engineering Team in Albany, NY; Syracuse, NY; or Norwell, MA. This is an excellent opportunity to lead the way in designing, developing, and implementing innovative solutions for natural gas distribution, transmission, and system modernization while taking ownership of complex projects.



What You'll Do:

    Provide advanced judgement and analysis techniques to complete complex engineering designs, technical reports, specifications, and contract documents for natural gas distribution and transmission projects
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of gas engineering projects with other engineering disciplines and project management staff
  • Monitor project progress and performance to ensure efficient production and minimize issues in critical energy infrastructure
  • Complete projects within budget and scheduling constraints, supporting sustainable and cost-effective solutions
  • Provide guidance and technical review for junior engineering staff


What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
  • Minimum of 4 years of discipline-specific engineering experience required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Advanced proficiency in engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.), as well as Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Natural Gas Piping or Process Piping
  • Thorough knowledge of 49 CFR part 192 and referenced codes such as but not limited to: ASME BPVC, B31 piping codes and related
  • Experience in sizing and selection of pressure regulation, over pressure devices, heat exchangers, vessel, heaters, meters, and piping components
  • 3D modeling skill such as Plant 3D in the AutoCAD and the ability to interface with designers in the 3D environment
  • Ability to oversee integration of muti-discipline models and CADD coordination to generate drawing sets
  • Experience with Caesar II piping stress analysis as applied to B31.8, B31.3, or B31.1 piping
  • Hydronic system design and the selection and specification of pumps, boilers, control valves, pipe sizing, and associated safety systems
  • Ability to defend and present designs in a process hazard analysis, PHA, or similar hazard analysis environment
  • Strong knowledge of QA/QC procedures, business practices, and engineering laws
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred

Salary Range:

$100,000 - $120,000

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
