At Bloomberg Industry Group, our Core AI & Search team is building the next generation of AI-powered search and information retrieval capabilities that help professionals find trusted answers quickly and confidently. Our work powers Bloomberg Law, Bloomberg Tax, and Bloomberg Government, products used daily by legal, tax, and policy professionals.

We are seeking a Senior Technical Product Manager to own the technical product strategy and long-term roadmap for search and related services across the organization. In this role, you will steward critical search infrastructure and partner closely with Engineering leadership to shape architectural direction and deliver scalable, high-impact search platform capabilities that measurably improve search quality and user outcomes.

This is a high-leverage role in a deeply cross-functional, matrixed environment. You will collaborate closely with partners across product, data, engineering, and our businesses, balancing technical depth with strategic judgment. You'll also join a strong community of product managers working across AI, search, our core platform, and our business units.

What You Will Do:

  • Own and evolve the technical product strategy and long-term roadmap for Bloomberg Industry Group's search platform and related services

  • Define priorities for improving information retrieval quality, performance, and relevance, grounded in user needs and measurable usage and outcome metrics, alongside emerging technical capabilities

  • Translate business and product goals into clear, testable technical requirements, including user stories, acceptance criteria, and user-facing success metrics where appropriate

  • Partner closely with Engineering on search architecture, system design, and technical trade-offs, ensuring solutions scale reliably across products

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to understand capabilities, constraints, and opportunities, and align technical vision with business needs

  • Partner with Product Managers and other stakeholders to understand end-user needs and incorporate those insights into search platform decisions

  • Operate effectively in an Agile environment-continuously refining priorities, milestones, and delivery plans while identifying risks and dependencies

  • Use data and experimentation to evaluate search performance and guide optimization decisions

  • Prioritize investments in scalability, reliability, and technical debt to support long-term platform health and sustained improvements in user experience at scale

  • Evaluate build vs. buy vs. modernize options for key technical capabilities

  • Ensure search services meet security, compliance, and operational standards

  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences and senior stakeholders

  • Mentor and support the growth of other Product Managers and Technical Product Managers

What You Need to Have:

  • 7-10 years of experience building and shipping technology-powered products, with at least 3 years owning technical or platform product execution (e.g., Technical PM, Platform PM, IR/ML PM, Solution Architect, or Engineering Lead)

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data/Information Systems, or a related technical field-or equivalent practical experience

  • Strong understanding of modern software and platform architectures, including APIs, data models, cloud-based and distributed systems, and data infrastructure

  • Proven ability to partner with senior engineers and technical leaders to influence architecture-level decisions and navigate complex technical trade-offs

  • Demonstrated data-driven decision making, using performance metrics, experimentation, telemetry, and logs to guide product strategy and prioritization

  • Experience producing clear, high-quality technical requirements, user stories, and system-level documentation

  • Solid grasp of modern delivery and operational practices, including Agile methodologies, CI/CD, observability, reliability engineering, and technical debt management

  • Familiarity with DevOps, SRE, security, and compliance considerations in production systems

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear guidance for cross-functional and non-technical stakeholders

  • Willingness to travel as needed
