AI Creative Technologist, Phygital Play

Role Summary

We are looking for an AI-powered creative technologist who loves experimenting at the intersection of digital and physical play. In this role you will prototype imaginative phygital experiences for kids and families using AI generation tools, game/interactive systems, lightweight hardware, and emerging play technologies. You will explore weird, fun, delightful ideas - not build enterprise UX flows.

What You'll Do

• Ideate and prototype playful phygital interactions that blend digital content, physical objects, sensors, and environments.
• Use AI tools for generating characters, animations, soundscapes, and visual worlds that enhance play concepts.
• Rapidly test concepts through creative coding, game engines, AR frameworks, and hardware prototypes.
• Run creative labs and workshops to explore new forms of AI-enhanced play mechanics, world-building, and narrative.
• Document and share experiments, learnings, and unexpected discoveries to accelerate team knowledge.
• Collaborate with Innovation, Toy Design, Branding, and Emerging Tech teams on character systems, digital layers, and production pathways.
• Support early playtesting and kid/family observation sessions to measure delight, engagement, and replay value.
• Prepare concept decks, demo reels, and short internal showcases that communicate creative potential.

Required Skills & Technologies

• Hands-on experience with AI generation tools (text, image, audio, animation, 3D).
• Familiarity with game or interaction engines (Unity, Unreal, Roblox, Godot, WebGL).
• Creative coding background (e.g., Processing, p5.js, TouchDesigner, three.js, OpenFrameworks).
• Experience with AR prototyping tools (ARKit, ARCore, Lens Studio, Effect House, WebAR).
• Ability to integrate lightweight physical computing components (Micro:bit, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, NFC/RFID, sensors).
• Curiosity about play psychology, narrative, or game mechanics.
• Strong collaboration and creative communication skills.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with children's media, toys, games, interactive installations, themed entertainment, or playground innovation.
• Experience with generative agents, voice or chat models, or real-time generative audio/visual.
• Exposure to character pipelines, animation, rigging, simulation, or volumetric capture.
• Experience in hackathons, maker spaces, modding communities, or game jams.

Education & Experience

• Degree in Creative Technology, Digital Media, Game Development, Computer Science, Interaction Design, Emerging Tech, or proof of equivalent work through portfolio.
• 2+ years of experience in creative technology, interactive media, game prototyping, emerging tech R&D, or similar experimental roles.

Portfolio Expectations

• Show prototypes, experiments, weird ideas, hackathon projects, or creative demos.
