Responsibilities

This is a hybrid opportunity. The ideal candidate is commutable to our Center City, MN facility.

Manage, provide daily direction and manage the performance of the Patient Accounts Insurance and Financial Specialists to ensure a solid functioning team and to ensure their work conforms to Hazelden Betty Ford's policies and procedures. Responsible for the timely collection of all patient and insurance accounts for all Hazelden Betty Ford facilities. Responsible for the accurate set up and timely billing of patient accounts for all Hazelden Betty Ford facilities with a comprehensive understanding of each program. Responsible for reporting on the patient accounts receivables and implementing process changes to improve collection times. Demonstrate interpersonal communication skills and decision making to maintain good customer relations while keeping in mind Hazelden Betty Ford's financial interest. Act as a direct liaison with outside payers to escalate and resolve claim issues, and utilize reporting tools to monitor and provide direction on accounts receivable as well as staff productivity.

  • Manage, plan, and coordinate all activities regarding third party and self pay billing and collections.
  • Act as liaison with other Hazelden departments, outside collection agencies and insurance websites.
  • Report and maintain patient accounts receivable goals.
  • Facilitating the selection, placement and development of new and existing employees.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in business administration or equivalent experience, accounting or bookkeeping.
  • Five years of related experience in a hospital business office dealing with patient billing and account follow-up.
  • Intermediate mastery of Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Business, Health or Finance area plus healthcare collection supervisory experience
  • 4 years supervisory experience in healthcare billing and collection.
  • CPT, ICD9 and medical terminology education
