Calibration and IQA Technician II

Basic Job Functions:



  • Manage all calibrations within the facility and ensure that systems are implemented and maintained.
  • Execute inspection procedures for the validation of incoming material.
  • Design and implement new inspection procedures and programs.
  • Provide remote support to other First Solar Facilities.


Education/Experience:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Candidates must meet one the following criteria to qualify:

    • 8 years of manufacturing experience OR 4 years of calibration experience,
    • Associate's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent post-secondary studies AND 5 years manufacturing experience OR 3 years calibration experience,
    • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline AND 2 years manufacturing experience OR 1 year calibration experience,
    • 2 years of experience as a Calibration/IQA Technician I.

  • 2 years of experience within ISO 9001 (or equivalent) Quality System desired.
  • ASQ Certification desired (CQI, CQA, CQT, CCT).
  • Certifications from Polyworks, Zeiss, and Omnex desired.

  • In-depth understanding of electronic devices.
  • In-depth understanding of thermal equipment.
  • Experience with calibration system requirements.
  • Experience using micrometers, gage blocks, and other handheld inspection tools.
  • Basic inspection methods for production type parts.
  • Ability to read and interpret product and tool blueprints.
  • Basic understanding of GD&T (Geometric Design and Tolerancing).
  • CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) operation and programming experience.
  • FARO operation and programming experience.
  • Proven communications skills.
  • Proficient use of all Microsoft Office programs.


Essential Responsibilities:



  • Complete assignments and projects as directed, with minimal supervision.
  • Complete all the calibrations on time and with proper documentation.
  • Maintain calibration procedures and records per company policy.
  • Define and implement corrective actions on devices that are out of calibration.
  • Perform inspections of incoming material, using provided metrology.
  • Release material in the inventory system after completing the inspections.
  • Quarantine and investigate any nonconforming incoming materials.
  • Assist in module inspections when needed.
  • Conduct effective communications and foster team building.
  • Interface with other departments and locations.
  • Lead in the execution of calibrations and inspections.
  • Work with engineering to develop proper calibration intervals.
  • Design and implement inspection procedures.
  • Give input on the metrology used to measure incoming products.
  • Train personnel on procedures for calibration as required.
  • Give input on the metrology used to measure components of incoming inspection.
  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC type standards.
  • Assist in GR&Rs (Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility).
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and good housekeeping standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationships:



  • This position will report to a Quality Engineer.
  • This position will not have direct reports.


Travel:



  • 0% - 5% (On occasion/as needed for training, etc.)


Estimated Salary Range:



  • $23.03-$32.21 Hourly.


US Physical Requirements:



  • Will sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Will climb stairs or steps on a frequent basis.
  • Will lift up to 58 pounds on an occasional basis, according to work instruction.
  • Will lift up to 37 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Will push or pull up to 50 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
  • Will push or pull up to 37 pounds of force on a frequent basis.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
  • 20/40 vision in both eyes (with or without correction) and the ability to distinguish between red, yellow, and green is required.
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  • Must comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including, but not limited to: steel-toed shoes, cut-resistant gloves, jackets, aprons &/or arm guards, safety glasses or goggles, hearing protection & respirators) and a condition of employment and continued employment (may require little or no facial hair).
