Job Summary

This position is scheduled to begin August 2026.

The Practical Nurse (PN) Program Coordinator will provide both instructional and program oversight. Teaching responsibilities include Fundamentals of Nursing, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Pharmacology, IV therapy, phlebotomy, and clinical rotations in long-term care, acute care, pediatrics, behavioral health, and obstetrics along with skills lab facilitation and simulation integration.

Beyond teaching, the Coordinator will oversee curriculum alignment, clinical placement coordination, scheduling, compliance monitoring, faculty mentoring, student support, program evaluation, and preparation for future accreditation. The position will also collaborate with other MCCCD campuses and healthcare partners to ensure program consistency, high academic standards, and workforce readiness.

This dedicated role ensures the PN program remains rigorous, sustainable, and student-centered, meeting the needs of diverse learners while supporting the healthcare workforce demands of the community.

Essential Functions

  • Instructs a diverse population of students in classroom and lab settings.
  • Develops written syllabi/course outlines and course materials; assesses student knowledge of subject matter and prepares and grades exams; maintains academic support hours to assist and advise students.
  • Engages in the academic life of the college by participating in district-wide and campus committees and activities.
  • Develops and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught and individual training skills required to remain current with new trends and developments in the field and to promote the scholarship of teaching and learning through attendance at conferences, courses, seminars, and/or workshops.
  • Will be responsible for program assessment and alignment with the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) standards and the Arizona State Board of Nursing regulations.


Minimum Qualifications
  1. Bachelors degree in Nursing and two years of experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care
  2. Must hold an Arizona registered nurse license in good standing or multi-state privilege to practice in Arizona by the first day of employment.
  3. Must be able to meet health and safety requirements including BCLS, fingerprint clearance card and drug testing.


Desired Qualifications

A. Experience facilitating, managing, teaching didactic and clinical components of a Practical Nursing (PN) program at a community college or similar academic setting

B. Graduate Degree in Nursing

C. Clinical nursing experience providing direct patient care, preferably recent

D. Experience coordinating clinical placements, including communication with clinical agencies, scheduling, onboarding, and compliance processes.

E. Demonstrated proficiency with educational technologies used in nursing education (e.g., Canvas, ExamSoft/New Quizzes, simulation platforms, EHR training).

F. Demonstrated data literacy, including experience with program assessment, outcomes evaluation, and familiarity with ACEN accreditation standards and Arizona Board of Nursing regulations.

G. Experience providing leadership to faculty or students, including coaching, mentoring, or delivering academic support strategies that promote student success.

Special Working Conditions

Possession of a valid Level I DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card required

Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens and other infectious diseases

May be required to instruct at multiple sites and/or teach days, evenings or weekends

Assignment may extend past the normal academic semesters

May require lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds

May travel or be assigned to any MCCCD location

Travel to campus during the interview/selection process will be at the candidate's own expense
