Job Summary:

Under general supervision, theDesign Technicianassists in the field layout and survey of new and replacement gas facilities, and utilizes various computer programs to make construction drawings, record drawings and system maps.

Duties:

  • Assists in the field survey, layout and design of new and replacement facilities through the use of electronic survey equipment, in coordination with various other Company personnel, engineering firms, developers, government agencies, etc.
  • Utilizes AutoCad and other computer programs to develop design construction drawings, permit applications, and other related maps and drawings in connection with new and replacement gas facilities.
  • Utilizes AutoCad , ArcGIS, and SAP to develop and maintain record drawings, system maps, and facility databases of existing and new gas facilities.
  • Assists in the preparation of preliminary and final cost estimates, permit applications and other correspondence and forms.
  • Assists with the development of and utilizes various computer databases, programs and spreadsheets.
  • Performs other incidental duties including the operation and maintenance of various computer equipment such as personal computers, printers and plotters.
  • Performs any and all other duties assigned by authorized personnel

EDUCATION:

High school or equivalent with emphasis on technical curriculum, AutoCAD (or equivalent) drafting experience from high school or technical vocational school preferred, Associates Degree in a technical field of study preferred; training in, or a working knowledge of one or more of the following is preferred, Windows, Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and Google Earth

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a Notary Public or be able to become one.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • AutoCAD drafting experience preferred, surveying experience preferred, working knowledge of personal computer system using Windows, Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and Google Earth preferred.

PUBLIC CONTACTS:

  • State highway officials, Corps of Engineers officials, railroad officials, contractors and property owners

OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a valid drivers license
  • Must be able to frequently and routinely walk, lift, carry, hammer, cut, probe, etc. and any other activity associated with field engineering
  • Overnight travel may be required.
