Summary


The Senior Production Planner is responsible for leading the planning and scheduling function across the site. This role owns the development of the monthly production plan, ensures optimal flow of WIP through the facility, manages outside-processing visibility, and drives system and process improvements. The Senior Planner acts as the primary planning liaison to Operations leadership and coaches junior planners.



Key Responsibilities


1. Monthly Production & Revenue Planning



  • Build the monthly/quarterly production plan to support revenue targets.
  • Perform constraint analysis and capacity modeling to identify bottlenecks.
  • Run what-if scenarios to optimize throughput and pull revenue forward.
  • Present schedule commitments and risks in weekly leadership meetings.



2. Detailed Scheduling & WIP Management



  • Maintain accurate WIP status across all stages of production.
  • Monitor aging WIP and develop recovery plans.
  • Manage induction planning to ensure proper sequencing of work.
  • Coordinate with receiving, inspection, engineering, and operations to eliminate delays.



3. Outside Processing (OPR) Tracking



  • Build and maintain dashboards for vendor status, aging, and lead-time performance.
  • Manage vendor communication for critical path orders.
  • Identify vendor risks and propose mitigation actions.



4. Capacity Planning & Optimization



  • Analyze work center load vs. available hours to identify constraints.
  • Recommend overtime, alternative routing, partial release strategies, or sequencing changes.
  • Support staffing and cross-training plans.



5. ERP (Epicor) System Ownership



  • Maintain planning parameters and ensure accurate travellers/BOMs.
  • Create and enforce standard work for planning and scheduling processes.
  • Lead continuous improvement for Epicor scheduling and data quality.



6. Cross-Functional Leadership



  • Serve as the planning representative in operations meetings.
  • Escalate risks early and provide data-driven recommendations.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and Customer Service.



7. Coaching & Mentoring



  • Train and mentor junior planners.
  • Delegate tactical tasks and develop planning team capabilities.
  • Lead by example in accountability, communication, and analysis.



Qualifications



  • 3 - 5 years of production planning experience (MRO/aerospace preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems (Epicor experience a plus).
  • Advanced Excel skills; Power BI preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct capacity planning and scenario modeling.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to influence at multiple levels.
  • APICS CPIM/CSCP preferred.
