Exiger is seeking a motivated, self-driven Senior Database Administrator who designs, builds and optimizes database, works within a continuous integration and delivery pipeline, and embraces test automation as a discipline. You will manage core transactional databases and cloud data platforms, ensuring they are secure, performant, resilient, and aligned with our data strategy. You'll work closely with engineering, data, and security teams to support new product features, data initiatives, and ongoing operational excellence.

What You'll Do:



  • Own the day-to-day administration of relational and (where applicable) NoSQL databases (e.g. SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, [insert relevant tech stack]).
  • Configure, monitor, and tune databases to optimise performance, reliability, and cost.
  • Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies, including regular testing and documentation.
  • Manage database patching, upgrades, and schema changes in line with change-management processes.
  • Support and optimize data warehousing and cloud data platforms (e.g. Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Azure Synapse or equivalent) in partnership with Data Engineering.
  • Monitor and optimize cloud database spend and resource utilization.
  • Collaborate with software and data engineering teams to design robust data models, database schemas, and indexing strategies.
  • Support ETL/ELT pipelines and integration jobs, ensuring reliability and data quality across environments.
  • Develop and maintain scripts (e.g. SQL, Python, PowerShell, Bash) to automate routine DBA tasks and health checks.
  • Contribute to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for database provisioning and configuration (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, etc.).
  • Partner with product, engineering, and data teams to support project delivery and troubleshoot complex data issues.
  • Share knowledge and coach engineers on best practice for database usage and query optimization.
  • Expertise inAWS data services- particularlyS3, Glue, IAM, Lambda, SQS, SNS, andSecrets Manager.


What You Need:



  • 5+ years of experience indata architecture, warehousing, or administration.
  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator or similar role in a production environment.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with at least one major RDBMS (e.g. SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL) including performance tuning and query optimization.
  • Demonstrable experience operating databases in at least one major public cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including managed database services.
  • Experience with backup/restore strategies, high availability, and disaster recovery.
  • Solid understanding of database security, encryption, and access control.
  • Proficiency in scripting or programming (e.g. SQL, Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools for databases and cloud resources.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex performance and stability issues.
