The Johns Hopkins Hospital- Meyer 3 Acute Inpatient Psychiatric Unit and Psychiatric Emergency Department is a 22-bed adult psychiatric acute care inpatient unit for patients with a variety of psychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and other severe mental illnesses, including addictions. Many of our patients come from this community, and most are admitted through the psychiatry emergency department. Our patients with addictions are often discharged to the recovery focused programs for further addictions treatment, and general psychiatric patients are referred to community psychiatry settings for their aftercare. The Clinical Tech Intern works under the supervision of a nurse, and taking into consideration the developmental needs of the patient, performs routine patient activities and delegated patient care procedures of a specialized and technical nature as competency documentation designates.
