Position Highlights

The University of Arizona's Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry is currently seeking a Research Technologist II who is highly proficient in repairing and maintaining nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometers. This position will also be responsible for maintaining superconducting magnets by regularly filling them with liquid helium and liquid nitrogen.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Primary duties will include filling liquid helium and nitrogen into superconducting NMR magnets and construction of nuclear magnetic resonance probes.
  • Maintaining NMR spectrometers and other laboratory equipment.
  • Additional responsibilities may include maintenance and repair of lab computers and troubleshooting research and hardware problems.

Knowledge,
Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced understanding of equipment management in addition to in-depth expertise in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometers.
  • Ability to perform work with extensive knowledge and utilization of University systems and department tools with proficiency.
  • Experience in formulating research methods to develop or collaborate in the development of new techniques, methods and equipment.
  • Familiarity with optical spectroscopies, centrifugation, liquid chromatography, and other laboratory techniques are of critical importance for success in this position.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. preferred
  • 5 years relevant experience
