Kilpatrick, a large international law firm, is seeking an Accounts, Receivable Specialist, for our Finance Department in our Atlanta office. This position will be part of our team of attorneys, paralegals, and support staff providing a high level of service to both internal and external clients. The Accounts Receivable Research Specialist (Specializing in Client Overpayments) primary responsibilities will be to research, reconcile and resolve high volumes of client credits. They will be expected to manage the unapplied credit file on a daily basis to ensure accurate and timely credit payment resolution. This position will be responsible for validating credit discrepancy reason codes, initiating refunds for overpayments, generating weekly unapplied report updates, and assisting other AR personnel with maintaining updated cash receipts. A proactive person who will be expected to identify problem accounts related to overpayments. Contact Clients to resolve credits on past client accounts in order to ensure proper allocations of overpayments. Assist Senior Person with proforma vendor credits in order to process vendor refunds and to ensure that we accurately recoup the firm costs. Finally, the ability to perform all other Accounts Receivable tasks as noted in the "responsibilities and primary activities" section below. We are looking for a mathematical person who is an analytical thinker with excellent written and verbal communication skills. The Accounts Receivable department is a real-time and fast-paced environment that requires high proficiency, high accuracy, and determination of its employees to operate effectively and efficiently.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Monitor, Track and Review Client Overpayments Daily
  • Validate overpayment discrepancy reason coding and explanation
  • Process all vendor-related refunds as scheduled and in a timely manner.
  • Assist with processing Client related refunds
  • Post and Process Reallocations
  • Assist AR Specialist with processing credit card payments
  • Identify problem accounts/processes/trends and escalate as appropriate
  • Utilize effective documentation standards that support a strong historical record of actions taken on an account
  • Ability to perform basic math to ensure accurate statement of accounts receivable.
  • Organize and Prepare a weekly report of the Overpayments to ensure timely and accurate resolution for client accounts.
  • Present manager with a weekly report of Unapplied Cash Receipts
  • Maintain and organize daily work files and data
  • Contact external & internal clients to resolve credit overpayments on accounts with open AR balances
  • Accurately prepare and post cash receipts.
  • Research and Analyze payments
  • Make necessary corrections when applicable
  • Post all types of cash receipts when required as it relates to lockbox payments (with downloads), ACH payments (with downloads), Remote-Scan live checks, Wires, Cash, and Credit Card Payments (with auto features), and handling foreign items.
  • Recognize and immediately report any finance items that could impact the Accounts Receivable Department.
  • The ability to accurately balance and reconcile all cash receipt batches daily by incorporating checks & balances and by using mathematical concepts to ensure an accurate audit trail of transactions.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge, Education, Certification, Licenses

Required:



  • Minimum 5 years experience in a law firm or banking (preferred) or related accounts receivable experience.
  • Experience with Elite (preferred) or related accounting software.
  • Basic Skills in Word
  • Intermediate Skills in Excel
  • Accounting course work is a plus, AA and/or BA/BS is highly desirable

    Experience

    • Minimum 5 years experience in a law firm or banking (preferred) or related accounts receivable experience.

    This is a full-time, regular position with a multi-faceted health benefit package including medical, dental, and vision. The firm also offers life insurance, short term disability plans and retirement plans in addition to holidays and paid time off. The firm offers hybrid work schedules combining in office work days as well as remote work days. The annual pay range for this position in Atlanta only is $33.33 to 38.46 per hour.
