National Grid is hiring a Senior Supervisor, Internal and External, Capital Delivery Supervision for Massachusetts. Ability to travel throughout our service territory for constuction purposes and meetings.

Job Purpose

To be responsible for the daily supervision and organization of assigned field staffing and materials to effectively, efficiently and safely accomplish job tasks in line with departmental and National Grid requirements.

Key Accountabilities
  • Coordinate the logistics or flow of material for all Transmission Construction projects directly to the various job sites. Be the liaison between the different engineering groups, the distribution centers, the vendors, and In-house Construction's Transmission Line crews for the delivery and receipt of all needed project materials.
  • Develop and improve standard operating procedures to promote consistency in material handling/management, and field accounting activities.
  • Monitor and manage resourcing and delivery of project materials, while coordinating logistics with internal and external partners.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of department emergency response procedures to help arrange and provide resource support as needed.
  • Working closely with workforce to ensure development of a complete Work Proposal, including construction work plan, detailed schedule Safety & Health Plan, and outage plan.
  • Ensuring that external resource needs are adequately identified and assigned to fully support the construction contract work plans, schedule, and budget.
  • Assuring that assigned personnel are properly directed, trained, licensed, and evaluated within Company guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability and willingness to hold clearances and non-reclose assurances required for construction as an authorized person within Clearance & Control.
  • Monitor internal and/or contractor resource level, performance, and implementation plan progress for assigned projects to be certain that appropriate resource levels are being utilized.
  • Foster and manage internal and contractor relationships that encourage open/honest communication and drive safety, performance, quality, efficiency, customer service, issue resolution, and project successes.
  • Drive Internal and/or Contractor performance through monitoring construction project status, assessing schedule performance, reassigning resources, and monitoring environmental concerns to ensure efficient project delivery and timely internal stakeholder
Qualifications
  • 5-10 years of related work experience in Construction Management, Engineering, Engineering Technology.
  • Experience in Electric Transmission Line overhead construction techniques, materials and resourcing needs.
  • Demonstrated ability and knowledge of the safe transportation, handling, inventory and storage of materials.
  • Requires knowledge and functional responsibility for proper operation of material lifts, forklifts and mobile cranes.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and communications skills.
  • Highly skilled communicator both verbally and in writing. Ability to employ computer applications such as MS Office, SAP or equivalent material software systems.
  • Must be willing to respond to off-hour emergencies, on-call responsibilities, and support weekend work.
  • Travel across New England Territory required to support continuous operation of the transmission system.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
