Description

Assists in the coordination of the activities and outreach of the Innovation Center at the Effingham Technology Center. The Innovation Center consists of the Virtual Reality Lab, Augmented Reality Lab, and Maker Lab and are focused on providing STEM-related experiences for both K-12 students and college and adult-aged learners in central and southern Illinois. The outreach would consist of classroom visits in area K-12 schools where the technology from the Innovation Center would be showcased.


Description of Essential Functions (critical tasks)

Program Delivery & Lab Support

  • Design and assist in the development and facilitation of STEM activities and tours for students and visitors in all the Innovation labs.
  • Supervise and assist in preparing and resetting lab spaces for scheduled programming, ensuring equipment and materials are ready and safe to use.
  • Provide support during scheduled use of lab technologies such as 3D printers, VR systems, and interactive software and hardware.
Equipment & Facility Maintenance
  • Monitor and maintain lab equipment, coordinating repairs or technical support as needed in the Innovation Center.
  • Ensure all tools, technologies and materials are used safely and effectively by students and staff.
Outreach & Events
  • Support communication and scheduling with K-12 schools collaborative programming.
  • Travel to partner K-12 schools and conduct STEM activities on-site.
  • Assist in the design, planning and hosting of interactive workshops, demos, and community events that promote STEM engagement.

Specific Functional Job Requirements

Education Requirements:

BS in education or a STEM field is required.

Experience Requirements:

Minimum experience in an office setting, related experience in college setting preferred.

Knowledge:

Business etiquette, general office procedures.

Skills:

Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication, and organizational skills plus moderate computer skills including use of Microsoft Office. Experience with VR and 3D printing is preferred.

Personal Requirements:

Detail-oriented, self-starter who enjoys relating to a diverse population of students, staff and public in a fast-paced work environment with multiple interruptions.
