CEI Field Supervisor

S&ME is looking for a motivated and passionate CEI Field Supervisor to join our CEI team in Columbia, South Carolina. Join us at S&ME!

As a CEI Field Supervisor will lead a team of experienced construction materials testing technicians and inspectors, playing a key part in project success through the delivery of high-quality testing services. Maintaining strong client partnerships and driving operational efficiency will be central to your role. Your leadership will be critical in overseeing multiple projects at once, coordinating with clients, and upholding top-tier safety practices throughout all operations.

Your Day-to-Day:



  • Work closely with clients and contractors to coordinate schedules and facilitate seamless project execution.
  • Oversee project deadlines and maintain clear, consistent communication with all stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to aid in proposal preparation and pre-qualification submissions.
  • Guide employee development by overseeing training programs and ensuring certifications are current.
  • Offer direct support in the field by assisting with testing and inspection activities as needed.
  • Help drive the hiring process by participating in interviews and evaluating candidates for field roles.



What You Bring:



  • A High School diploma or GED
  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical engineering or a construction-related field, a plus
  • A minimum of 4 years experience in construction materials testing
  • SCDOT certifications, a plus
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or management role
  • Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing), using the English language



Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment, such as:



  • Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions
  • Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially long periods
  • Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
  • Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
