Position Highlights University Facility Services is looking for a Custodial Area Supervisor. This position supervises a team of custodians responsible for cleaning the Student Union Memorial Center. Will issue keys to custodians for the shift as well as collect them back at the end of the shift. Time study projects and inspections are performed periodically to gauge quality of work done for given square footage data. In charge of time sheets for staff as well as assessing work issued to front line workers.

May work evenings and weekends based on University events such as sports, graduation, and more.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Directs the work of custodians performing cleaning tasks.
  • Assists in supervising all inter-collegiate athletic sports and campus events.
  • Schedules work to meet normal requirements without interfering with building occupants or students.
  • Inspects buildings, rooms, storage space, halls, fixtures, and custodial equipment to observe the results of the work performed.
  • Recommends budget, materials, and equipment for assigned areas.
  • Prepares a variety of operational reports and memoranda's. Completes Career Conversations with employees annually.
  • Submits documentation regarding employee job performance and behavior. May meet with employees to coach and encourage high performance.
  • Coaches custodians to improve their job knowledge; provides high-quality cleaning services and encourages career development.
  • Trains custodians and temporary staff on equipment operation, chemical usage, and cleaning schedules.
  • Performs other duties as necessary to meet the needs of our customers.
  • Requests appropriate material, equipment, and supplies while operating within the established budget.

  • Knowledge of cleaning equipment, products, techniques, and
    standards.
  • Proven team-building skills.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and budgeting processes.
  • Proven organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are
    required to build relationships and communicate information to other team
    members.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Supervisory skills, management skills, such as planning
    and organizing, and the ability to train new employees.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, move, transport up to 50lbs.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is
    required.
  • Seven years of relevant experience, or equivalent
    combination of education and work experience.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
Preferred Qualifications

  • An associate degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience in custodial services.
  • 2 to 4 years of custodial supervisory experience.
