JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS Overview: Penn State Office of Physical Plant Sustainability team is seeking a dedicated and passionate student to support the growth of the Sustainable Labs Program. This role is ideal for someone eager to be an integral part a dynamic initiative focused on advancing campus sustainability by engaging and educating labs and researchers. The intern will play a crucial role in the program's administration, including strategic planning and organization, as well as developing and implementing educational and professional resources for labs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: - Provide administrative support for the Sustainable Labs Program. - Support the development and administration of a university-wide lab reuse initiative. - Assist with the design and maintenance of the Sustainable Labs website, ensuring alignment with university standards. - Help manage communication between program leadership and participating labs, including upkeep of the Microsoft Teams site. - Document and report program outcomes and success stories. - Contribute to the planning and delivery of educational and professional development programming for lab members. - Develop marketing and promotional materials to recruit labs and promote the program. - Conduct team-based lab visits to evaluate sustainability practices and offer recommendations. - Collaborate with fellow interns to advance program goals. Qualifications: - Currently enrolled Penn State student with a GPA above 3.0. - Strong written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills. - Organized and capable of working independently. - Demonstrated interest in, and knowledge of, sustainability issues and topics. - Familiarity with the operations of research labs in a university context is a plus. - Experience with educational program development is a plus. - Familiarity with graphic design platforms such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus. Additional Information: This paid internship begins in early Spring 2026 and runs through the semester at 8-10 hours per week. There may be an opportunity to extend the role into Summer 2026, depending on interest and program needs. This position pays $16/hour.
