Start Date 01/19/2026 Contract CFT HSM-41 North Island Salary Range $43.11/Hour Posting Date 12/08/2025 Union Yes FLSA Status Non-Exempt Shift Work Possible FT/PT Full-time Relocation No Travel Possible Job Summary: Aircraft Mechanic I - Aviation Ordnance will be responsible for performing maintenance on various components of military aircraft, specifically focusing on H-60 series helicopters, including the MH60-R. Your duties will span across a variety of systems, including airframes, engines, avionics, landing gear, rotor systems, and more. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 1. Aircraft System Repair & Rebuilding: o Perform repairs and rebuilds across all aircraft systems, including structure, engines, rotors, avionics, hydraulic units, and flight surfaces. o Use tools and equipment such as welders, drills, rivet guns, and sheet metal brakes to maintain aircraft parts. 2. Technical Document Interpretation: o Read and interpret maintenance manuals, technical data, and service bulletins to plan and execute repairs on malfunctioning or damaged aircraft components. 3. Aircraft Inspections & Testing: o Conduct regular maintenance inspections (175-hour, progressive, phase, and periodic Hourly and calendar inspections) to detect cracks, leaks, corrosion, or wear on components like engines, turbine blades, and hydraulic systems. o Use testing equipment for engine operations and replace damaged parts. 4. Flight Support Maintenance: o Perform preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight inspections. o Service aircraft (flushing gearboxes, cleaning filters, greasing moving parts, checking brakes). 5. Aircraft Handling: o Jack, tow, moving aircraft, spotting aircraft and maintain aircraft in safe operational condition. o Enter maintenance records and ensure all repairs are documented correctly. 6. Leadership & Supervision: o Lead and supervise junior mechanics, ensuring safety and quality during all tasks. 7. Specialization Areas: o Potential to specialize in areas like engine repair, airframe maintenance, or avionics. All MH60-R Aviation Ordnance 8. Safety & Quality Compliance: o Ensure compliance with all safety and quality procedures, including Hazmat handling and FOD (Foreign Object Damage) prevention. o Participate in safety programs and perform housekeeping duties in the shop. Page 2 of 3 o Maintain detailed records of all maintenance performed in OOMA or similar to OOMA systems ensuring compliance with 4790 and safety standards. Additional Responsibilities: * Participate in Aviation Gas Free Program and obtain necessary support equipment licenses. * Comply with all safety protocols, training requirements, and emergency response duties. * Maintain necessary certifications such as Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) or Quality Assurance Representative (QAR). Qualifications and Experience: * Education: High school diploma or equivalent. * Experience: o Minimum 5 years of experience with H-60 series aircraft (or equivalent rotary aircraft experience). MH-60R experience preferred. o At least 5 years Aviation Ordnance, MH60-R CDI/CDQAR experience. * Certifications: Ability to obtain and maintain qualifications in line with U.S. Navy instructions (e.g., CDI, QAR). Ordnance certification shall be required to obtain. * Security Clearance: Must be able to pass and maintain a Tier 3 Background Check. Some roles may require a secret clearance. * Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret technical data, manuals, and special operating instructions. * Language Skills: Must be able to read, write, and understand English. Additional Requirements: * Ability to work with foreign cultures and languages. * Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and medical examination. * Ability to meet physical requirements for the position. * Compliance with safety, quality, and environmental regulations. * Must be able to handle and dispose of hazardous materials as required. * Must possess a valid state driver's license. Working Conditions: * Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. * Computer usage for documentation using codes and clear written and verbal English language required. * Constant use of eye sight abilities while reviewing documents, walking around work areas and constant use of English language speech/hearing abilities for communication. * Constant mental alertness around all work areas, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines. * Climbing aircraft using aircraft step and all types of ladders or stands. Page 3 of 3 * Standing long period of time with minimal sitting. * Ability to work under extreme weather conditions. * Work site has head, hand, hearing, eye, slip and trip hazards shall use proper PPE and proper safety procedures.
