Agile project delivery self-starter able to lead amidst ambiguity executive presence.

Project is for "Client's" GPI Reclassification Process Improvement. GPI stands for Generic Product Identifier. The project is the process of reclassifying a drug's therapeutic category or characteristics within the Generic Product Identifier (GPI) system - a change to the drug's 14-character code, which is usually driven by refinements in drug classification, changes to dosage forms, strengths, or therapeutic categories.

Below are more details on impacts this could have:

  • For PBMs, these changes have significant operational and financial implications:
  • Formulary Management: Reclassification can cause a drug to move between different formulary tiers (e.g., from generic to specialty), which affects how it is covered by a patient's insurance plan and what the patient's out-of-pocket costs will be.
  • Pricing and Reimbursement: Drug classification is a key factor in determining pricing and reimbursement rates. Misclassification can lead to incorrect pricing, potentially increasing costs for employers or health plans.
  • Clinical Management Rules: The GPI is used to articulate clinical management rules (e.g., prior authorization, step therapy). A reclassification means these rules need to be updated to ensure proper utilization management.
  • Data Analysis: PBMs use GPIs to analyze population health data, track costs, and evaluate patient trends based on medication therapies. Reclassification requires system updates to ensure data accuracy across all analytical platforms.

GPI changes are typically released by data providers like Medi-Span on a planned, periodic basis (e.g., twice a year) to allow PBMs and other users to plan for the updates and implement necessary system changes.

Qualifications:

  • PBM industry experience, preference with past "Client" experience.
  • Need a PM who has strong communication skills to present to executive leadership. Also, must be able to work on projects that are more ambiguous and bring order and structure to those projects.
  • Self-starter who can drive projects forward.
  • Must have worked in Agile project delivery environment.
