Laboratory Technician

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Laboratory Technician supports daily laboratory operations by performing routine analytical

testing, preparing samples, maintaining equipment, and ensuring accurate documentation. This role

conducts chemical analysis using ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma) equipment and plays a key part in

ensuring accurate, timely, and quality-driven laboratory results in a fast-paced environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Perform routine analysis of customer-provided metal samples and record accurate results.

* Prepare samples using standard laboratory techniques, including acid dissolution and other

wet chemistry methods.

* Ensure maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment, including ICP instruments and

other analytical devices, are completed as required.

* Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), and safety

protocols at all times.

* Assist with updating SOPs, work instructions, and laboratory procedures.

* Maintain laboratory inventory, including chemicals, standards, and raw materials used in

analytical processes.

* Create and maintain analytical standards as directed by the supervisor or manager.

* Document findings and prepare periodic reports for management.

* Communicate effectively with supervisors, managers, and team members regarding testing

status and laboratory needs.

* Ensure a clean, organized, and safe laboratory work environment.

* Participate in safety training and contribute to maintaining a safe laboratory environment.

* Inspect PPE, fume hoods, and safety equipment to ensure readiness and compliance.

* Verify the quality and expiration dates of incoming chemicals and materials.

* Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor of Science, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related degree required, or equivalent

combination of education, training, and experience.

* Two plus years of hands-on laboratory experience, preferably in analytical testing, metals,

materials, or chemical environments.

* Inorganic, analytical and general chemistry coursework required or a combination of

education and related work experience.

* AA and/or ICP experience preferred.

* Basic understanding of laboratory practices, analytical techniques, and equipment operation. * Familiarity with ICP or similar analytical instrumentation preferred. * Experience in all aspects of analysis and acid dissolution sample preparation preferred. * Familiarity with general chemistry glassware standard techniques and volume transfers. * Proficiency in basic computer skills and ability to learn laboratory software. * Ability to follow instructions, SOPs, and safety protocols with high attention to detail. * Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. * Ability to meet tight deadlines and meet production goals. * Ability to follow detailed directions in a manufacturing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) environment is required. * Ability to learn technical concepts by reading work instructions and standard operating procedures, and completing on-the-job training. * Knowledge of cGMP regulations ISO 13485, 21CFR Part 820, CMDR SOR/98-282, 93/42/EEC, RDC 16 2013, MHLW MO 169 and TG(MD)R Sch3 preferred.
