Back Equipment Mechanic #25-0742 Galveston, Texas, United States Apply X Facebook LinkedIn Email Copy Compensation Range $30.00 - $37.00 Onsite Status: This role is fully Onsite Location(s): 2228 Mechanic St, Galveston , Texas 77550 , United States Essential Job Responsibilities: The Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the daily inspection, malfunctions, repairs and rebuilds of lift equipment such as forklifts, all attachments, cranes, and company shop trucks. Essential Responsibilities: Oversees maintenance and repair of equipment. Supports on the job projects including identifying all sources of equipment maintenance, fueling, repair and spare parts Must have the ability to operate and complete a daily inspection of bridges, all attachments, and other equipment. Perform preventative maintenance per manufacturer's recommendations on equipment to ensure that it is safe and in compliance with all federal and state regulations. Ensures that services provided are in compliance with all safety procedures. Analyze and diagnose any potential malfunctions, defects, damage or excessive wear. Repair or replace any malfunctioning components, parts and other mechanical equipment and subassemblies. Regularly test overhauled equipment to ensure that it is operating efficiently. Dismantle and reassemble equipment using a variety of hoist, power and hand tools. Responsible for directing others who are engaged in cleaning and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment. Review Operator's Vehicle Condition Report before equipment is operated, to ensure there are no deficiencies that need to be addressed. Ensures accuracy while maintaining all equipment maintenance files and pre vessel check lists. Responsible for inventory control, maintaining minimum parts and supply orders, verifying receipts and containing cost for all equipment. Maintain a clean and organized work environment. Required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), such as safety toe boots, protective hard hat, ear protection and safety glasses, when applicable. Maintain company values, rules, policies and procedures are met to fulfill the company mission, as well as productive relationships with customers and vendors. Responsible for special tasks requested by management and/or supervisor. Maintains a positive working relationship with other divisions of the company. All other duties as assigned by manager. Qualifications: Valid Driver's License and TWIC card. High School diploma or Vocational degree Management and/or some type of supervisory experience Advanced knowledge of maintenance industry from a vocational education institute, apprenticeship, on the job training and/or similar work experience. Some knowledge of the maritime industry preferred. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with a variety of individuals. Forklift, crane, and heavy machinery Certifications required. Strong problem-solving skills. Capabilities: Requires the ability to operate, maintain and repair large equipment and machinery to support operations in a fast-paced environment. Requires problem solving skills to respond quickly and effectively to operational issues Requires the ability to work alone as well as with outside vendors and other employees Requires the ability to follow instructions in a fast paced environment and be available to work varied hours and days Requires the ability to communicate effectively with vendors, service companies, workforce and other staff Ability to work a "flexible" schedule to work extended hours and weekends when required or necessary. Requires the ability to analyze and trouble shoot problems and facilitate repair. Work environment: Must be able to work in rotating shifts, days, evenings and nights. Must be able to work in extreme outdoor temperatures of hot and cold, extremely dusty conditions and occasionally, conditions of high levels of noise. The ability to work in an environment that may be hazardous to persons unable to see and hear fast moving equipment The ability to drive 50% The ability to operate various types of equipment.
