STS Technical Services is hiring an Avionics Technician Lead in Mesa, Arizona.

In this role, you will support aircraft maintenance and modification projects while leading hands on avionics work. The ideal candidate is an experienced avionics professional who is comfortable in a fast paced environment, can interact with team members at all levels, and brings a high level of professionalism, discretion, and technical skill to every project.


Position Overview

The Avionics Technician Lead will perform installation, troubleshooting, testing, and documentation of aircraft electrical and avionics systems. This position also supports workflow management, technician guidance, and coordination with vendors and material suppliers.


Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform installation and troubleshooting of various aircraft electrical and avionics systems, including control, power, video, RF cables, and electrical harnesses
  • Perform aircraft electrical and avionics system testing, including continuity, power, and operational checks using test equipment on aircraft and on back shop test benches
  • Perform two year IFR 91.411 and 91.413 checks
  • Use basic hand tools and avionics specialty tools
  • Read, interpret, and support development of electrical fabrication and installation drawings
  • Assist in providing technical guidance and training to other technicians
  • Work closely with the supervisor to manage priorities and workflow
  • Interface with equipment manufacturers and material suppliers
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to work performed

Experience

  • Five or more years of commercial aviation electrical and avionics aircraft support experience required
  • Experience with avionics equipment installations, pitot and static test set operation, and com, nav, transponder, and TCAS test set operation
  • Experience with Garmin and other avionics manufacturers

Education & Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; AS degree preferred
  • A&P certificate preferred
  • Valid driver's license
  • Normal or corrected vision to 20/20
  • Normal color vision
  • Highly skilled in interpreting electrical schematics
  • Able to use basic hand tools and avionics specialty tools
  • Competent with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills preferred
  • Willingness to travel up to 20 percent
