Job Summary

This position plays a key role in assisting in implementing and enforcing University policy with the goal of minimizing the regulatory risks associated with hospital operations, by preventing and detecting inappropriate, improper, and fraudulent conduct. This program establishes Compliance Standards and Procedures to be followed by all UC Davis Health employees and other agents and provides direct compliance training and oversight of the development of all related training materials. The UC Davis Health Compliance Program maintains on-going monitoring and reporting systems that evaluate and report on the status of program elements and the effectiveness of compliance efforts. The position supports the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer (CCPO) with programmatic aspects of the day-to-day operations of the program. This position will report to the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer (CCPO). The position plays a critical role in developing compliance initiatives and advancing UC Davis Health's Compliance and Privacy program. The position will provide ongoing support to the Department and Compliance Program by assisting the CCPO with the Department's fiscal and operational responsibilities. #CA-SB

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Extensive years of progressive experience formulating strategies to address compliance risks.
  • Experience leading and managing projects involving multiple stakeholders across the health system, from development through implementation while remaining on schedule.
  • Expert experience reading and interpreting federal and state statutes, regulations, court opinions, as well as legal and industry guidance with the skill to synthesize that information into relevant, understandable policies and procedures.
  • Experience performing gap analyses and then applying compliance-specific knowledge in order to develop cogent corrective action plans in collaboration with senior management.
  • Proven project management skills and experience managing multiple, often complex deadline projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced knowledge of developing comprehensive compliance risk assessments for a large, multi-faceted organization.
  • Manage or have the skills to monitor databases (such as the OIG Work Plan) for updates and to identify and evaluate any potential impact to UC Davis Health and implement appropriate responsive action steps.
  • Demonstrates an expert level of proficiency using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and the ability to learn other software/data platforms for tracking Information, identifying and understanding trends and developing related reports for senior leadership.
  • Exhibits highly developed verbal and written communication skills as evidenced by the proven ability to present to professional constituents and produce comprehensive business reports for executive leadership.
  • Adept at researching, understanding and developing best practices and adopting strategies for successful implementation of new initiatives and procedures.
  • Mastery in condensing complicated information from regulatory sources and translating it into relevant presentations and training materials.
  • Must possess political acumen to work in an executive-level environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Health Care Compliance (CHC)
  • Juris Doctorate or Master's in Public Health, Health Care, or a related field.
