Sr Supplier Development Engineer

Your main responsibilities

* Provide input for the development of business plans and manage the implementation of projects to ensure the achievement of strategic and tactical supply chain management goals.
* Participate in the selection of suppliers and contract development activities.
* Develop internal communication strategy and drives the required change management programs to support implementation.
* Interface with R&D Engineering in support of design and manufacturing capabilities, make or buy decisions, problem resolution and process improvement, and developing a specific component strategy roadmap.
* Support pre-production purchasing activities, facilitates transition of component purchasing from R&D to production
* Evolve supplier's capabilities to improve the quality and reduce cost of component manufacturing.
* Assist with the development of process specifications and provide technical support to suppliers, quality assurance and prod operations.
* Identify and execute material and labor cost reduction and quality improvements for outsourced components.
* Visit supplier sites to help create/audit supplier processes, and offer technical support to ensure product quality, cost and delivery targets are met.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Master of Science in Engineering preferred
  • Black Belt preferred
  • Experience with elevator systems and its components preferred
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, quality control, strategic and tactical purchasing, and experience negotiating business agreements
  • Experience with structured problem solving including 8D and RCCA with emphasis on action tracking and execution at the suppliers
  • Comprehension of LEAN manufacturing with LEAN / Six Sigma experience
  • Expertise with key supplier quality processes including PFMEA, PPAP, etc.
  • Professional understanding of international project/change management
