Engineer - Union - JLL

What this job involves:

The Stationary Engineer (Union) operates and maintain all critical building systems, including central plant vessels and the Building Automation System (BAS) that control Heating, Ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), electrical, fire and life safety systems. Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on centrifugal pumps, heat exchangers, motors, chillers, cooling towers, and any other mechanical equipment to ensure peak efficiency and minimal downtime. Must be familiar with Building Automation Systems. Must be able to obtain a HSPS-12 security clearance. Must be able to be flexible with assigned work schedules. Must be able to perform overtime as needed. Must have strong analytical and communication skills, particularly in emergency situations requiring quick and calm resolutions.

This position operates under the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE Local 99).

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Record data, such as observing and interpreting readings on gauges, meters, and charts which register various aspects of the system's operation, adjusting controls to insure safe and efficient operation of the system and to meet demands for the services provided; temperature of equipment, hours of operation, energy consumed, temperature or pressure, water levels, and analysis of voltage load . Also adjusts manual controls or overrides automatic controls to bring equipment into recommended or prescribed operating ranges, switch to backup equipment or systems, or to shut down equipment.

  • May visually inspect equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment, or lubrication.

  • May maintain equipment by tightening fittings, repacking bearings, replacing packing glands, gaskets, valves, recorders, gauges, and cleaning components, using hand tools and power tools.

  • May respond to service calls related to temperature controls, comfort issues, electrical issues, life safety issues, etc.

  • May perform water titration tests and pour chemical additives, such as water softeners, into treatment tanks to prevent scale buildup.

  • Record operation and maintenance actions taken during shift in operators' logbook.

  • Workers are required to be skilled in the repair of electronic control equipment.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Chief engineer.

Required Qualifications:

  • All HVAC personnel designated to work on, operate, maintain, and (or) repair HVAC equipment or systems shall possess a Maryland 1st license.

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience.

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

8AM to 4PM, Wednesday - Sunday

Salary/Comp:

Hourly pay is $51.98

This position does not provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Estimated compensation for this position:

108,118.00 - 108,118.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
