Overview
This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit's Commercial Business Units ("Spirit Commercial"). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing's three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial's core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.
Responsibilities
- Provides knowledge of numerical control, machining, and programming inspection machine tools
- Performs a variety of qualitative and quantitative analysis of NC programs to ensure validation and compliance to customer and regulatory requirements and specifications
- Analyze blueprints, engineering models, and electronic controls to support NC programming
- Work with NC programmers to optimize or modify programs as required
- Program CMM's, portable inspection devices and provide verification of NC programs using software and apps
- Ability to collaborate in a team environment
- Validates fabrication, assembly, or installation manufacturing plans by coordinating with suppliers, engineering, and manufacturing teams
- Communicates with cross-functional teams to influence and clarify design concepts
- Coordinates change incorporation, optimizes processes, and addresses producibility issues as well as production & post-production problems
Qualifications
- Ability to apply process knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Composite non-metallic, metallic machining, sheet metal, systems, structures and inspection
- 2-5 years experience in numerical control (NC) programming, concentrating on multi-axis machines, metallic or composite materials
- High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with inspection machine tools and NC Programming software
- Frequent interaction with internal personnel in the manufacturing environment and occasionally with inter-organizational personnel and external customers
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and 3D models
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office, especially with Excel
- Strong knowledge of SAP
- CATIA; ENOVIA;; Metrologic; Verisurf; Polyworks
- Understanding of the master scheduling requirements
- Ability to take a project from start to finish
- Willingness to work cross-functionally
- Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred but not required, subject to experience in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering or other related course of study a plus but not required.
Union: This is a union-represented position. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Summary Pay Range: $60,100 - $92,150 Kansas Tax Credit: Join Spirit AeroSystems' Kansas team and you may be eligible for a $5,000 state of Kansas Aviation tax credit for up to five years.
