Job Summary
The Physical Therapist 2 (Per Diem) reports to the Director of Therapy for the JV Rehabilitation Hospital Physical Therapy team and serves UC Davis Health as a journey-level clinician. This position requires at least two years of experience as a licensed physical therapist and demonstrated practice across a variety of clinical settings. The PT 2 is responsible for evaluating, planning, coordinating, and delivering individualized Physical Therapy services for patients with complex conditions, exercising sound clinical judgment in both documentation and patient care decisions. Working with minimal direction, the PT 2 contributes to quality outcomes by serving as a clinical resource, assisting with staff orientation, and actively participating in departmental training and professional development programs. Responsibilities
- Independently evaluate patients and develop evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual needs.
- Implement and adjust Physical Therapy interventions for patients with complex medical or functional issues.
- Document assessments, progress, and treatment outcomes in accordance with departmental and regulatory standards.
- Serve as a resource and provide clinical guidance to entry-level therapists and therapy students.
- Participate in staff orientation, mentoring, and training initiatives.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other allied health professionals to optimize patient care and outcomes.
- Contribute to departmental quality improvement, continuing education, and professional development activities.

- California Licensed Physical Therapist
- American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
- Graduated from an accredited Physical Therapy program
- 2 or more years of recent clinical experience in the field of Physical Therapy
- 1 year of experience working with adults
- Experience with documentation in Electronic Medical Record
- Must be able to perform all responsibilities of a licensed Physical Therapist as required and assigned by Joint Venture Rehabilitation Hospital
- Must see well enough to observe patient reactions and read relevant monitors, relevant device settings, and relevant written information such as the patient's medical record
- Written and oral communication skills to clearly and concisely provide information, explanations, and instructions to, and to elicit information from others with varying levels of ability to understand, including individuals who are ill or distressed, or who may not speak English
- Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain a friendly, welcoming environment for clinics/departments' customers
- Demonstrate an interested, understanding, compassionate manner
- Maintain a courteous and calm demeanor, and use a proactive approach to negotiate with and persuade others to take required action
- Ability to maintain composure, efficiency, and a positive, customer-service-oriented manner during periods of peak workload, with frequent interruptions, under tight deadlines, and when interacting with challenging customers who may be ill, angry, or emotionally distressed
- Problem-solving skills to independently recognize and define a problem; identify the resources available to help solve the problem; create and implement viable solutions; and follow through to ensure the problem is resolved to the satisfaction of all parties
- Decision-making skills to independently exercise delegated authority to take action, and to recognize when it is appropriate to seek assistance from others when limits of delegated authority have been reached
- Ability to exercise discretion to ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained, and a professional, respectful clinic/department environment exists at all times
- Must have basic computer skills
Preferred Qualifications
- American Physical Therapy Association Credentialed Clinical Instructor Program Level 1
- 2 years of experience working with an adult population in inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing (SNF), acute care, or a long-term acute care hospital
- Experience with neurological diagnoses (job or student rotation)

Department Overview The Joint Venture Rehabilitation Hospital, located on the Sacramento Medical Center campus, is a 52-bed facility dedicated to helping patients achieve their highest level of functional independence. The hospital offers a comprehensive range of rehabilitation services and is equipped with advanced amenities and adaptive living units where patients can safely practice activities of daily living. In addition to general rehabilitation, the hospital features a specialized 12-bed Brain Injury Unit and four private rooms designed for bariatric patient care. The care team works collaboratively to provide patient-centered, evidence-based rehabilitation programs that support recovery and improve quality of life. POSITION INFORMATION

Work Environment
- UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco-free campus effective January 1, 2014. - Must possess sufficient mobility to traverse the distances required to serve patients throughout the institution.
- Must be available to work 2 weekends and 2 weekdays per month.
- Work at least 1 prime holiday (Friday after Thanksgiving, Dec 24, Dec 26) and 4 other UC holidays per year.
