A Brief Overview
The Lead Medical Assistant is responsible for all the duties required of the Certified Medical Assistant. In addition the Lead Medical Assistant oversees and assists with supervising the other certified medical assistants and procedures for all of the programs and services provided in the Primary Care Center. Ensures that the staff is trained and maintains hospital's standards for service excellence.

What you will do

  • Train all Certified Medical Assistants in Dermatology to the processes and procedure of the Dermatology outpatient clinic and on Prior Authorizations and instrument processing
  • Be the resource for Prior Authorization questions from the Certified Medical Assistant staff
  • Responsible for managing the schedule for Certified Medical Assistant team
  • Review schedule ahead of clinic day and determine the MA staffing needs and assign roles for the clinic
  • Be aware if additional rooms are needed and any impact a specialized clinic may have on the day's flow
  • Oversees and supervises the medical assistant staff and their work flow
  • Supports Site Leadership in creating and helping to monitor performance indicators
  • Triage phone calls from the front desk PARC staff during clinic hours
  • Work with Infection Control and the Lab for Quality Improvement
  • Acts as liaison between site leadership, providers, other clinical staff and the medical assistants
  • Oversee daily clinic functions and assist with issues that arise during office hours
  • Acts as primary preceptor for new MA staff

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED - Required
  • Technical Diploma Medical Assistant Program - Required

Experience Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year work experience - Required
  • At least three (3) years related healthcare experience - Preferred and
  • Previous customer service background - Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) - within 3 months - Required or
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologist - within 3 months - Required or
  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) - National Center for Competency - within 3 months - Required or
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Center for Competency or National Healthcareer Association - within 3 months - Required or
  • Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) - American Medical Certification Association - within 3 months - Required or
  • Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) - National Allied Health Test Registry - within 3 months - Required and
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - within 3 months - Required

$24.87 - $31.09 Hourly
