Workplace Integration Lead - Internal Logistics Engineering

The Workplace Integration (WPI) Lead - Internal Logistics Engineering (ILE) is responsible for delivering a safe & efficient flow and display of material to the production workstations within their area of responsibility. Depending on the assigned program scope and assembly plant, the area of responsibility could fall within Body in White, General Assembly (Trim, Chassis/Engine, and Final/Door), Paint, or all areas. The WPI lead will provide project management from initial CAD layout proposals, all the way through final buyoffs and physical installation on the floor. This position will need to work closely with industrial engineering to secure the scroll (assignment of EBOM parts to workstation) and the containerization group to identify how the parts are packaged from the suppliers. Using the scroll & packaging information, the WPI Lead will operate AutoCAD to design the material display setup for each station. The Lead must work within safety & ergo guidelines and specify which standard or custom equipment is required to display each part's packaging to the production operator. The MDD (Material Display Document) file will be created and maintained by the WPI Lead, so that a complete list of equipment can be engineered, quoted, produced, and delivered in time for installation prior to SOP. The WPI Lead will also be responsible for designing and implementing any offline part sequencing or kitting cells that are required due to a lack of available space on their main line stations. A PFEP (Plan for Every Part) will be utilized to maintain all key information required for the Bill of Material, such as part number, part description, part weight, Point of Use, Container, and Density as a few examples. The WPI lead is expected to maintain the most accurate/current information in the PFEP. With this position, you are considered the single point of contact for ILE and are expected to know the complete plan for material handling at the station level. The lead will represent ILE in the Digital Scroll meetings, where stations layouts are reviewed one by one in order of vehicle assembly. You will present the part numbers/packaging & line display equipment to the stakeholders for discussion of issues and buyoffs. The lead must maintain an Action Register, where all issues are documented until they are closed. The Lead must work with all stakeholders (IE, Production, Safety, & Ergo) to ensure each station's material display plan is physically signed off prior to ordering or installing equipment. Since the main line station space is always densely populated, the WPI Lead will need to find creative ways (drive packaging changes, facilities & equipment design, kitting, etc) to display all required parts to the workstations.
