Description

Responsible for developing and executing the strategic direction of the Small Business Loan Center ("SBLC"). Drives small business credit opportunities from concept to implementation that tie into the Bank's strategic goals. Has a solid understanding of all aspects of the underwriting process inclusive of risk management and regulatory compliance. Manages the day-to-day operations of the SBLC.

Below is a list of essential functions of this position. Additional responsibilities may be assigned in the position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Management

  • Sets the strategic priorities for the department based on the bank's strategic goals.
  • Ensures clarity around goals for the entire functional area.
  • Responsible for planning and advising the work.
  • Provides guidance, mentoring and counseling to direct and indirect reports.
  • Guides the talent identification and development process for existing or new teammates

Business Process Management

  • An agent of change who possesses the work experience and technical skill set to build customize small business lending solutions that promote effectiveness and efficiency for greater ease of use benefiting clients all around.
  • Clearly defines challenges and uses comprehensive thinking to develop solutions to those challenges.
  • Is an entrepreneurial problem solver who can develop well thought out solutions and implement those solutions.
  • Manages relationships with vendors
  • Ensures technology remains updated with current release.

SBA Management

  • Coordinate periodic review of SBA portfolio with U.S. Small Business Administration.
  • Manage relationship with Loan Service Providers.
  • Create and manage policy and procedures for SBA program.

Credit and Lending

  • Work with team to assist with loan underwriting.
  • Approves loans within specified limits
  • Reviews small business model assumptions along with pricing grid

Portfolio Management

  • Monitor portfolio performance, including growth, delinquencies, profitability and exceptions.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks within the portfolio.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Title of Small Business Loan Administrator - Officer, AVP, VP or SVP is dependent on education level, years of experience and the areas listed below:

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential position requirement satisfactorily and a skills inventory is listed below. Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination and experience. Ten or more years of business banking and/or commercial lending experience with SBA experience and a leadership role. A background screening will be conducted.

  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret documents. Possesses professional communication and interpersonal skills to write and speak effectively both one-on-one and before groups of clients or employees of the organization. Ability to communicate to clients directly and effectively.
  • TECHNOLOGY SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential position requirement satisfactorily and a skills inventory is listed below. Successful completion of required background checks is required.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Apply mathematical fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Knowledge in reading and interpreting financial documents required.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve challenging problems involving several variables in a standardized situation.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

This position operates in a professional office environment with considerable time spent at a desk using office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers. Noise level is moderate with constant communication and interactions with others. May be required to lift 10 pounds in weight. Ability to travel on occasion to all market areas and attend seminars or training sessions offsite.
