SPA's Integrated Warfare Systems Group (IWSG) comprises more than 100 staff that provide program and project management, systems and digital engineering, software, test & evaluation, product support, cybersecurity, international/Foreign Military Sales, strategic communications, and IT support to more than 100 Above Water Sensor, Undersea, and Combat System programs and projects in the Navy's Program Executive Office for Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS) and customers in Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), Office of Naval Research (ONR), Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the Navy's Team Submarine Office.

Timeline for intern selection:

  • Applications can be submitted and will be reviewed until 14 November 2025.
  • Interviews will be ongoing and conclude by 12 December 2025.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a smart, energetic, and dedicated student actively pursuing a four-year undergraduate degree in Engineering to work alongside the SPA team in support of PEO IWS 2.0 programs. The successful intern will quickly learn and contribute to tasks, projects, and discussions with opportunities to support exciting radar, electronic warfare, and electro-optic/infrared programs.

The IWSG office is located at 20 M Street in Southeast DC, conveniently down the street from our clients at the Washington Navy Yard.

Salary range: $23-$31 per hour. Rate is dependent upon rising year and degree.


Qualifications

The ideal intern will:

  • Be enrolled in, and in pursuit of, a four-year undergraduate degree in Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering; or a related field
  • Articulate a willingness to learn program/organizational processes and procedures
  • Demonstrate forward thinking and proactive problem solving skills
  • Possess strong leadership, administrative, and interpersonal skills
  • Be capable of quickly obtaining and maintaining an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance
