Job Description

The Test engineer supervisor oversees all aspects of product testing to ensure motors and related components meet high standards of performance, quality and reliability. They lead a team of test engineers and technicians and work closely with cross functional teams to align strategies with overall business
objectives. This role blends technical expertise with strong leadership and project management skills

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a group of test engineers and lab technicians in supporting the test requirements for motor and drive products.
  • Create fully featured 2D and 3D CAD files for mechanical test systems capable of meeting specific torque, speed and structural loading requirements.
  • Conduct and/or lead the fabrication and assembly of reliability and component test systems.
  • Set up and conduct a variety of tests including (but not limited to) dynamometer performance, endurance, vibration, and thermal tests.
  • Collect and analyze test data using appropriate software, tools and statistical analysis techniques.
  • Participate in test strategy and test plan reviews.
  • Document test results and prepare formal test reports.
  • Identify and troubleshoot motor performance issues, working with project and design engineers to implement solutions.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and calibrated.
  • Ensure laboratory compliance with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Participate in motor and drive design reviews to provide input on test and performance requirements.
  • Assist in the development of new motor designs and technologies * Generate reports for communicating ongoing test status.
  • Maintain active and ongoing test assemblies.
  • Prioritize projects and meet critical deadlines.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in testing methodologies and tools.
  • Conduct department-wide meetings to discuss new equipment proposals.
  • Maintain a budget for projects and for lab related expenses.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor's Degree in applicable engineering field, mechanical or electrical preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in project engineering or a related field.
  • Must be proficient in CAD software (CREO is preferred).
  • Experienced/capable of managing a technical team.
  • Must be proficient in technical writing.
  • Strong technical skills, specifically beneficial in drive electronics and test system mechanical design.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and feel comfortable presenting to groups.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, etc).
  • Must have excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to develop, program and troubleshoot drive/motor test systems is a plus
