The Product Designer II supports the design and research efforts for a large-scale, cloud-based travel reimbursement platform that serves users across a national healthcare network. This role applies human-centered design (HCD) principles to create intuitive, accessible, and compliant digital experiences. The designer will conduct usability testing, accessibility reviews, and design validation for portal features, ensuring all work meets Section 508 compliance and program design standards. Working closely with product owners, engineers, and other designers, this individual will translate complex workflows and technical requirements into user-friendly interfaces that improve usability, efficiency, and satisfaction.

The Impact You Will Create:

This program supports a large-scale, cloud-based travel reimbursement platform that automates the submission, processing, and payment of travel claims for a national healthcare network. The team's work focuses on maintaining and enhancing a Microsoft Dynamics 365-based application that integrates with multiple enterprise systems and APIs to improve automation, reporting, and user experience. Staff will help design, build, and optimize workflows, data integrations, and system functionality to ensure secure, efficient, and reliable claim processing. Team members will collaborate across engineering, testing, and product functions to deliver new features, manage system performance, and support continuous modernization of the platform's architecture and services.

Your Responsibilities in This Role:

  • Lead human-centered design activities for portal features from concept through implementation.
  • Plan, conduct, and analyze usability testing sessions to validate design decisions and guide product enhancements.
  • Perform accessibility reviews and ensure all designs comply with Section 508 standards and established design guidelines.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups using tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
  • Synthesize research insights into actionable recommendations, personas, journey maps, and user flows.
  • Collaborate with engineers and product owners to ensure design intent is accurately implemented.
  • Maintain and evolve design systems, component libraries, and documentation to ensure consistency and scalability.
  • Apply best practices in layout, typography, color, and interaction design to produce accessible, visually cohesive interfaces.
  • Communicate research findings, design rationale, and usability insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams-including engineering, product management, and quality assurance-to prioritize and deliver user-centered solutions.
  • Review design artifacts, provide feedback, and ensure that deliverables meet high standards of quality and accessibility.
  • Advocate for user needs throughout the design and development lifecycle and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
