Are you a highly dedicated and safety-conscious individual eager to contribute to a dynamic plant team focused on ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operations of machinery? We have an immediate opening for a Maintenance Technician role at our Texas City facility.

The Texas City facility assets include Air Products' largest Steam Methane Reformer, a Nitrogen Air Separation Unit, the world's largest single train Ammonia Plant, Ammonia Pipelines, 60 MW of Steam Turbine Power Generation and large Utility System. This facility is a greenfield build expanding Air Products presence in the Gulf Coast at Texas City and will connect with Air Products Gulf Coast Hydrogen Pipeline system.

A background in maintaining pumps, mechanical seals, vessels, filters, strainers, exchangers, piping, relief valves, gear drives, and reciprocating and centrifugal compressors or turbines is essential for this position. The Maintenance Mechanical Technician / Millwright will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting all equipment and facility maintenance. You will provide necessary technical and hands-on support to continuously improve plant rotating and stationary equipment integrity, reliability, cost, and on-stream performance.

Required Skills / Abilities:

• Ability to perform alignments (Rotalign Pro or equivalent) and read drawings.
• Knowledge of various pumps, compressors, equipment lubrication practices & procedures.
• Demonstrate the practice of safe handling of hand tools and hand power tools typically and commonly used in maintenance tasks.
• Practice and demonstrate working knowledge of safe rigging and lifting procedures.
• Understand the properties, behaviors, and hazards of the equipment.
• Experience in maintenance, start-up, and commissioning of industrial rotating machinery and plant equipment.
• Experience in a petrochemical, manufacturing, or military environment.
• Working knowledge of basic word processing, email, and spreadsheet programs a plus.
• Practical knowledge of machinery overhauls and refurbishment.
• Good organizational skills, the ability to work alone if necessary, and the ability to lead a crew.
• Supervisory skills/experience a plus.
• Demonstrated safe work skills, fundamental computer skills and the ability to work extended hours.
• On call rotation and must be willing to work overtime.
• Must be able to learn how to operate facility forklifts, manlift and shop overhead crane.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Participate actively in department/plant safety programs. Promote safety rules and regulations as well as environmental compliance.
• Perform and/or supervise routine and breakdown inspection, repair, troubleshooting, modification, installation and commissioning of mechanical equipment such as centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, cryogenic pumps, gear drives, steam turbines, vessels, heat exchangers, centrifugal expanders
• Develop work scopes for equipment repair and overhaul.
• Prepare and provide technical reports. Enter information into CMMS system (SAP) to provide accurate documentation on equipment and information.
• Provide the necessary technical leadership to continuously improve machinery condition and reliability.
• Develop worn component refurbishment procedures and follow through on repairs and spare parts replacements based on Machinery Engineering recommendations.
• Update and/or create maintenance manual/procedures for certain equipment as needed
• Engage actively in a team environment, bring a positive attitude, maintain personal accountability, and provide mentoring and coaching for team member development.
• Participate in the planning and execution of minor and major shutdowns. Provide technical and hands-on support as required during shutdowns
• Expectation to become an Air Products crane lift supervisor, to include rigging and flagging qualifications
• Drive company vehicles safely

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

• Two-year associate degree in mechanical discipline or relevant military experience.
• Entry level candidates with SkillsUSA membership and the ability to demonstrate PDP leadership competencies are strongly encouraged to apply.
• SAP or equivalent experience CMMS system a plus.
• Preferred Level 1 Machinery Lubrication Technician (MLT) certification.
• Must be able to be part of on call rotation and willing to work overtime.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to work in an industrial environment which includes climbing ladders and steps in elevated work, get on scaffolding, get on manlift type equipment and wear PPE such as full body harness.
• Must be able to wear supplied air and air purifying respiratory protection.
• Able to work in confined spaces.
• Able to lift 50 lbs.
• Must be clean shaven.
• Must be willing to work at a tobacco-free facility.
