UCSD Department of Dermatology brings together a team of 70 faculty members, making us one of the largest Dermatology programs in the nation. Our faculty are experts in their fields and are involved in a wide range of clinical, education and research endeavors. UCSD Dermatology has an extensive basic science and clinical research portfolio and ranks in the top 10 in funding from the NIH. Dermatology faculties have rich programs of skin research focused on immunology, microbiology, genetics and cancer. They have funded research programs on: 1) studies on the development of the innate immune system and its interaction with the skin microbiome, 2) trials comparing alternative treatments for management of psoriasis, rosacea and atopic dermatitis biologics, 3) studies of biomarkers for acne and acne rosacea, 4) the study of genetics and epigenetics of human skin development and progression to disease, 5) atopic dermatitis inflammation and antimicrobial peptides and 6) skin cancer development and melanoma acquired drug resistance. Under the supervision of the PI, the incumbent will perform specialized experimental techniques in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Cell Culture, and a variety of other general laboratory experiments. Duties will include handling and processing of microbes, using methods including electrophoresis, in vivo experimentation in mice using IACUC approved protocols, Western blotting, DNA and RNA extraction, immunohistochemistry, and PCR, including those involved in cell culture, clonogenic assays, kinase assays and expression of green fluorescent protein constructs. Position is also responsible for data entry and computational, and general lab duties as assigned. Operate and maintain laboratory and field instruments. Complete and maintain data properly, including lab notebooks, care and use of laboratory mice, cell lines, and bacterial strains. Perform data calculations and analysis from experimental results using appropriate computer software. Order laboratory supplies and handle biohazardous materials. Inventory and dispose of biohazardous wastes. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $58,151 - $69,363 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $27.85 - $33.22 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable). | |
