Job Description

The Public Health Strategist supports key internal strategy efforts that strengthen the Jackson County Health Department's mission and impact. This includes initiatives in strategic planning, quality improvement, accreditation, and workforce development. The ideal candidate is collaborative, innovative, and passionate about advancing public health systems and organizational excellence.

What You'll Do

  • Support planning and implementation of department-wide strategies and initiatives.

  • Conduct assessments, analyze data, and use findings to guide improvement efforts.

  • Coordinate professional development and internal training opportunities.

  • Lead workgroups to improve organizational effectiveness and engagement.

  • Collaborate across teams to align programs with JACOHD's mission and values.

  • Develop timelines, track progress, and evaluate program effectiveness.

  • Compile data and prepare reports for leadership review.

  • Represent JACOHD with professionalism and respect for diverse communities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Public Health, Health Sciences, Nonprofit Management, or related field

  • Knowledge of core public health functions and essential services

  • Understanding of education program planning, implementation, and evaluation

  • Knowledge of data analysis and research methods

  • Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Analytical and problem-solving ability

  • Experience presenting to large audiences

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, databases)

  • Ability to organize work, set priorities, and meet deadlines independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Public Health, Health Promotion/Education, or related field

  • 1-2 years of progressive experience in a related area

  • Experience with surveying, program assessment, accreditation, strategic planning, or quality improvement
