As a Test Set Construction & Maintenance Technician at Nokia, you will play a crucial role in assembling optoelectronic test sets and fixtures that support the development and manufacturing of cutting-edge optical systems. You'll work on diverse projects, using a variety of skills to construct the equipment R&D engineers rely on to test real products.   • Assemble commercial instruments into test cabinets, making mechanical modifications as needed for optimal performance.
  • Construct test fixtures including electro-mechanical, pneumatic, and heating/cooling systems, ensuring precise functionality through minor adjustments.
  • Utilize strong electronic fundamentals to wire test cabinets, fixtures, and sub-assemblies, interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Employ soldering expertise for wire routing, mechanical connections, and PCB soldering and repair operations.
  • Troubleshoot PCBs and electrical sub-assemblies to maintain performance integrity and functionality.
  • Conduct optical fusion splicing, fiber routing, and troubleshoot optical paths to ensure quality in communication systems.
  • Pay close attention to detail while marking up drawings and maintaining clear communication with team members and engineering staff.
  • Engage in hands-on maintenance, including working on ladders and lifting heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) for test rack and fixture positioning.

Must-Have:

  • AS in Electronics/Electronic Technology or equivalent experience
  • Electrical wiring and PCB soldering/repair experience
  • Electrical and Optical troubleshooting expertise
  • Proficient in basic machine fabrication processes (cutting, drilling, bending)
  • Familiarity with ESD, safety, and security practices

Nice-To-Have:

  • Optical fusion splicing experience
  • Experience with circuit board design software
  • Knowledge of fiber optic technologies
  • Understanding of telecommunications systems
