Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Senior Project Planner - Scheduler in the Oil & Gas Industry to join our team!

Role Summary:

Responsible for developing, maintaining and communicating capital projects schedules. The position may be assigned to multiple large projects as well as specific initiatives for business development or system / process development responsibilities. The Senior Project Planner-Scheduler will work with internal Project Managers and external vendors/suppliers in the development and maintenance of the project and program schedules.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include:



  • Lead planning exercises, prepare and maintain project schedules for capital projects
  • Ensure the appropriate level of planning and scheduling functionality is applied to support project controls activities through all phases of capital projects
  • Assists project team in resolution of issues involving cost and schedule changes
  • Establishes & maintains common methods & standard reporting format for management reports
  • Review and integrate schedules prepared by contractors to ensure appropriate level of details and structure are applied to ensure effective progress monitoring and project control
  • Ensure schedules generated for a project are fully integrated and resource-loaded in order to ensure the accuracy of projected staffing requirements
  • Provide necessary coaching to planners to ensure the development of job plans that can be transposed into a workable schedule that accurately links required tasks and specific resources that are necessary to complete an identified work scope
  • Ensure compliance of industry procedures and practices
  • Set up, implement, and maintain project schedule related key performance indicators
  • Obtains data on project progress, logic and manpower from Project Leads, contractors or other project/operations personnel. Review / validate expected milestone dates on new projects assisting in the setting of milestone targets as required
  • Conduct schedule review meetings and assist in developing alternatives to accommodate changes to project plans and communicate any deviations of current plan to the project team
  • Develop and maintain planning and scheduling procedures and practices
  • Facilitate quantitative schedule risk analysis model development and monte-carlo simulation to review and communicate data driven forecasts
  • Company Subject Matter Expert (SME) for project planning and scheduling modeling.
  • Act as primary business lead to liaise with internal IT teams for scheduling software hosting and management needs. Includes testing and approval of software upgrades and patches.
  • And other duties as assigned.



Position Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree required (Engineering discipline preferred) MBA preferred
  • 20+ years of experience in the project engineering and/or construction industry required
  • 20+ years specific functional experience in the areas of planning and scheduling on major capital projects required
  • Demonstrated success in proactively improving processes and systems
  • Proficient user experience in Primavera P6 is required
  • Schedule and Risk analysis experience using @Risk or Primavera Risk Analysis software preferred
  • Travel: Up to 25%



Certificates & Licenses:



  • PMP Certification and PMI-SP Certification preferred

  • Ability to handle uncertainty while continuing to drive assigned work with a positive, highly motivated, can-do attitude.



Physical & Safety Requirements:



  • This position consists of office work and field travel. Work outside normal office business hours is required from time to time.
  • The employee may be exposed to a hazardous working environment at field locations and must be able to enter and climb above-grade storage tanks, traverse pipeline right-of-way and terminal piping structures, access stack test locations 40 to 50 feet above grade and climb in and out of pipeline excavations. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
