Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Human Resources Business Partner to join our growing team.

Role Summary:

The HR Business Partner reports to the Director, Employee Relations and Organizational Development and supports the Employee Relations, Labor Relations, and Organizational Development (ER/LR/OD) team with a wide range of HR activities across both Field Operations and Corporate teams.

The HR Business Partner role provides day-to-day support in key HR functions such as employee relations, performance management, policy guidance, and talent processes. The HR Business Partner collaborates closely with HR Team members in Talent Management, Workforce Planning, Talent Acquisition, HRIS, and Total Rewards to ensure consistent and effective HR practices across the organization.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions include:



  • Partner with leaders and ER/LR/OD team members to provide day-to-day HR support and guidance across various people-related matters.
  • Assist the ER/LR/OD team in implementing HR programs and processes that align with company goals and policies.
  • Support employee relations activities, including assisting with investigations, documentation, and follow-up actions.
  • Help ensure compliance with employment laws, company policies, and reporting requirements.
  • Support the ER/LR/OD team in areas such as workforce planning, recruiting, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Assist and support the leave of absence process, including coordinating with employees, managers, and third-party administrators to ensure accurate communication, documentation, and compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining HR reports and metrics to support business decisions.


  • Assist in driving organizational development through effective workforce planning, recruiting, talent/performance management and succession planning initiatives


  • Participate in projects and initiatives that support continuous improvement, change, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Partner with the ER/LR/OD team to support and facilitate leadership training and development initiatives, reinforcing key learning objectives and helping leaders apply concepts into practice.
  • Partner with HR teams (Talent Acquisition, Compensation, Benefits, etc.) to ensure seamless delivery of HR services.
  • Contribute to employee engagement and communication initiatives to foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Provide responsive and accurate answers to employees and leader inquiries regarding HR policies and procedures.
  • Participate in projects and initiatives that support continuous improvement, change, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Position Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Minimum of 2+ years of general HR experience required.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with HR systems such as UltiPro (or similar HR/Payroll software) preferred.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint and report-writing tools a plus.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Up to 25% travel is required.



Certificates & Licenses:



  • PHR or SPHR a plus
