THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this internship, you will have the opportunity to develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of public health policy and its impact on communities. Through research and analysis, you will identify disparities and public health issues that can be addressed through policy, with a focus on promoting health equity. This internship will provide you with valuable experience in creating and advocating for policy solutions that can improve the health and well-being of rural communities in Pennsylvania. You will gain insight into how policy decisions are made and how they can be used to address the unique needs of diverse populations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a part-time internship from November 2025 through November 2026.
  • Work hours are flexible with a maximum of 20 hours per week.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. You will be expected to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg as needed or as directed by your supervisor. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Internship Requirements:

  • You must be currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a master's level program.
  • You must be in good academic standing (as defined by a GPA of 2.0 or higher).
  • You must hold Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university.

Additional Requirements:

  • School credit will be determined by your college or university.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Current enrollment in a graduate degree program with a major in Environmental Sciences, Behavioral Health Counseling, Human Development and Counseling, Health Sciences, Health Services Administration, Nutrition & Foods, Global Studies, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Global Public Health, Health Data Analysis, or Public Health
