DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will play a key role in monitoring construction activities related to road, bridge, and transportation improvement projects, ensuring adherence to plans, specifications, and contractual obligations. Your responsibilities will include documenting both your observations and contractor activities in Field Inspector's Diaries, Item Quantity Books, and sketch/Computation Books. You will also verify the proper placement and maintenance of work zone traffic control signs and devices in accordance with the Work Zone Traffic Control Plan and Publication 213. Additionally, you will be tasked with completing essential project documentation, assisting in the analysis of contract plans and specifications, and clarifying requirements for contractor personnel. It will be important to report any contractor-related issues to Department supervisors and seek their guidance as necessary. You will review safety practices on construction sites, recommend corrective actions to contractor management, perform calculations for work quantities and materials, assist with periodic progress payments, and check stakeouts, elevations, and material placements. Furthermore, you will support inspection personnel in testing materials for projects and gather required delivery forms and certifications. Engaging in training to enhance your skills in construction and material inspection will be essential, and you should be prepared to work temporarily in various District Units, traveling independently to different work sites as needed. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- You will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) ad-hoc as approved, after successful completion of probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Montoursville. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. - Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $33,995 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Graduation from high school; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
- This particular position also requires possession of a Class C non-commercial driver's license.
