Overview

Stellar Solutions is a nationally recognized Great Place to Work, delivering systems engineering and integration, mission operations, and program management for commercial and government space programs. We support innovative new entrants and established operators across communications, earth observation/remote sensing, and the ground infrastructures that enable space missions.

We're seeking a Ground Segment Systems Engineer / Integration Engineer to support the Space Sensing Systems Engineering & Integration (SN SE&I) contract in El Segundo.

Role/Responsibilities/Qualifications

The ideal candidate will support the ground technical baseline, contribute to configuration management and requirements discipline, and coordinate integration activities across efforts such as Relay Ground Station site engineering, NGG integration, NIO C2 integration, and MEO/pLEO interfaces. This role is hands-on with operators, engineers, and stakeholders - ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic environments and turns ambiguity into clear plans, artifacts, and steady delivery.

Responsibilities Include:

Support the ground technical baseline: maintain documentation, process change requests, and apply configuration control across assigned ground components.

  • Coordinate integration across mission threads: assist with planning and execution for Relay Ground Stations, NGG, NIO C2, and MEO/pLEO interfaces; help organize lab/field activities and site readiness with stakeholders.

  • Contribute to requirements management: participate in capture, traceability, and change proposals through the Enterprise Review/Resource Board (ERB); document impacts and decisions.

  • Prepare and participate in reviews: build materials for technical interchange meetings (TIMs), design reviews, and integration readiness events; track actions to closure.

  • Assist site engineering: help define physical/virtual ground equipment needs, network/interface details, and deployment checklists with site leads.

  • Track baseline health: update schedules/status for integration increments; surface risks, dependencies, and mitigations to the team.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders: work with government, SE&I, and vendor teams to identify issues early and keep integration on cadence.

Required Skills:

  • 6-7+ years of systems engineering experience on space ground systems (mission operations, ground stations, ground networks, or C2).

  • Hands-on experience as a systems/integration engineer supporting a technical baseline and related processes (configuration management, change requests, ERB/CR discipline).

  • Practical requirements management experience (capture, trace, verify/validate) across multi-contractor teams.

  • Comfortable working with technical leads and program leadership to scope next steps and create order from ambiguity.

  • Ability to work on-site ~3 days/week at Los Angeles AFB (El Segundo) with cross-functional government/industry teams.

  • Bachelor's in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or related technical field.

  • Active Secret clearance (or ability to reactivate/transfer).

Desired Skills:

  • MBSE/Cameo experience (SysML modeling; interface/behavior views that support integration planning).

  • Physical and virtual networking familiarity (ground equipment integration, VLANs, virtualization).

  • Exposure to ground equipment engineering processes (racks, power, cooling, site surveys, installation and checkout).

  • Mission familiarity with Missile Warning/OPIR (e.g., SBIRS heritage, NGG ground context).

  • TS/SCI eligibility or current DoD SCI.

Tools & Collaboration
  • Jira and Confluence for backlogs, decision logs, and integration action tracking.

  • Teams and SharePoint for stakeholder coordination and document control.

Security Clearance & Other Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizen with Secret Clearance and with the ability to obtain Top Secret and SCI clearances
  • Position is located in El Segundo, CA (Los Angeles AFB) * Work Mode: On-site ~3 days/week (hybrid as mission allows) Other Travel expected to be 10% or less
