Overview
The Department of Public Safety (DPS) is seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented Financial Administrator III to join the Grants Management Unit. This position will be responsible for the financial management of the Emergency Management Performance Grant, Emergency Operations Center Grant, and the State Highway Safety grant programs. This will include activities such as preparing grant applications, program financials, federal drawdowns, execution of subgrant agreements and amendments, reviewing subrecipient reimbursements, and general grant compliance. Ideal candidates will possess strong computer and Excel skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well with our subgrantees and Federal Agency partners. Knowledge of the State's Peoplesoft VISION financial system is preferred but not required. This position follows a hybrid schedule with three days per week in the office. This allows our team in-person collaboration to build relationships, share knowledge, and work through challenges together while maintaining flexibility for remote work that supports focus and balance. Work is performed in a standard office setting. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting AND one (1) year of accounting experience maintaining, reviewing, analyzing and accounting or financial data and records to ensure compliance with accepted accounting practices and standards OR Associate's degree in accounting, business administration, office administration or a related field AND four (4) years of professional experience in accounting, maintaining, reviewing, analyzing and accounting or financial data and records to ensure compliance with accepted accounting practices and standards OR High School diploma or equivalent AND five (5) years or more of professional experience in accounting involving maintaining, reviewing, and analyzing accounting or financial data and records to ensure compliance with accepted accounting practices and standards. OR Two (2) year as a Financial Administrator II with the State of Vermont. NOTE: CPA certificate is considered qualifying. Preferred Qualifications
For some positions preference may be given to applicants with supervisory experience. Special Requirements
