Description
We are seeking a skilled Systems/Network Administrator to support the daily operations, performance, and sustainment of IT systems critical to NASA's Research and Education Support Services (NRESS) contract. This position ensures the smooth functioning of platforms such as peer review support systems, solicitation management tools, email infrastructure, and listserv services. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in system monitoring, user support, account provisioning, and general IT administration in a secure, high-availability environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain the operational health of IT systems and services, including NASA peer review platforms, email, and communication tools.
- Identify and resolve system performance anomalies and outages, escalating issues as needed to senior technical staff.
- Perform routine system maintenance, including scheduled backups, patching, and updates.
- Provision user accounts and manage access rights across applications and systems in accordance with contract security protocols.
- Provide support to end users accessing business systems, including troubleshooting access and configuration issues.
- Coordinate backup and recovery processes for critical systems and data, ensuring compliance with continuity of operations and data retention policies.
- Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, access permissions, and operational procedures.
- Assist in implementing system improvements and contribute to the development of procedures that promote efficient and secure operations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
(Note: Direct specialized experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.)
- Minimum of 5 years of general IT experience, including at least 2 years working with enterprise applications, email systems, and user account management.
- Proficiency in administering Windows or Linux environments and familiarity with system monitoring tools.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and customer service skills.
- Ability to obtain a NASA Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting federal IT systems or research program platforms (e.g., NSPIRES).
- Familiarity with email/listserv systems (e.g., Exchange, Google Workspace, Mailman) and cloud-hosted applications.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and data protection requirements in a federal environment.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or Linux+ are a plus.
