The Process Engineer is responsible for improving efficiencies and implementing new procedures on the production floor. This position requires the use of engineering principles, data analysis and problem solving to resolve issues and improve efficiencies on the production floor.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead Kaizens implementing lean tool including 5S, Poke Yoke, Visual Management, TPM, Quick Change, Single Piece Flow and Kanban.
  • Troubleshoot processing issues on mold machines as they arise to minimize product impact.
  • Focus on improving molding cycle times while maintaining quality and developing a stabilized process. Ensure top 80% processes optimized. Utilize production report to drive action on processes with greatest variations from standard with input from Manufacturing Eng. team.
  • Review procedures and process to ensure quality standards are being met.
  • Work with the manufacturing engineering team for new mold startups and process development.
  • Ownership for all aspects of engineering samples (mold installation, processing, inspection).
  • Standardize machine setups and working methods.
  • Develop and maintain molding process run-sheets.
  • Responsible to start, update and maintain all mold books for all molds.
  • Utilize all available machine functionality to control process, identify issues, and eliminate overruns.
  • Develop a standardized troubleshooting process, document and train the 24hr team.
  • Participate as member of a Project Team and/or cross-functional Team as required.
  • Train associates, including temporary employees in proper work methods, procedures, and quality.
  • Owns the 8D process for all quality related events. Drive to root cause, propose and assist with implementation of preventative resolutions.
  • Record and report all production data/metrics, including output, scrap, and moisture/temperature.
  • Support manufacturing engineering projects as assigned.
  • Hands on prototype work which may include 3D printing.
  • Design for Manufacturability.
  • Train associates in work methods, procedures, quality standards, Lean, and safety.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (AND) one or more years of relevant experience (including molding machine set-up and operation, injection molding processing); (OR) an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Lean manufacturing experience is required.
  • Experience with Moldflow analysis is strongly preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of molding processes, including how adjustments to different process parameters can affect the final product.
  • Need initiative and hands-on experience to resolve problems, able to work as member of a team, and knowledge of computer systems required.Experience on Nissei machines is a plus.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient at Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Project Management experience preferred.
The expected annual salary for this position is between $75,504.00 and $101,553.00. This range represents a good faith estimate for the position and actual compensation will be based on numerous factors including knowledge, location, skills, training and experience.
